Fall and Winter Organic Skin Care: Seven Tips

The harshest times of year on our skin are fall and winter. The skin needs extra care to keep it moisturized during these seasons. Keep your skin radiant and healthy through the holiday season and right on into the New Year by following these fall and winter organic skin care tips.

1. Drink Water Frequently

Help your skin stay hydrated by drinking lots of water. When you go outside your home, it is advisable to bring a bottle of water, juice, or tea. When it’s cold, hot herbal tea can do wonders. If you constantly hydrate yourself, your skin will maintain a healthy glow even on the coldest days of winter.

2. Remove Dead Skin Cells with Exfoliation

Keep your skin feeling fresh by using a facial or body scrub to remove dead skin cells. Expensive products aren’t necessary. Create an exfoliant recipe by using items you can find in your kitchen.

3. Use Organic Moisturizers

Moisturize your skin after exfoliating it. Organic skin moisturizers containing all natural ingredients are available. These organic products help protect your skin rather than harming it because they contain no harsh chemical preservatives.

4. Don’t Forget to Wear Sunscreen

You need to apply sunscreen when you’re going outdoors even if it’s not in the heat of summer. A sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15 is necessary. There are many sunscreens containing organic ingredients available today. Additionally, some sunscreens contain moisturizing agents, so they do double duty in protecting your skin. Be sure to protect your skin from the elements with a good sunscreen.

6. Wear Gloves When You’re Out and About

When she insisted you wear gloves in the winter, your mom knew what she was talking about. Don’t leave home in the cold without a pair of gloves. Choose gloves that are made of hemp or other organic material. In addition to protecting your skin from harsh elements, gloves also keep your hands warm and dry.

6. Take an Organic Oil Bath

An organic oil bath can hydrate your skin as well as relax you. For instance, a lavendar bath nourishes the skin while relaxing the body and calming the senses. Simply add a few drops of the oil to your bath; it will help wash away the stress of a tiring day at the office or the mall.

7. Use Organic Lip Balm to Protect Your Lips

Lips chap easily in the fall and winter. This is not just because of the cold – our use of indoor heaters during cold weather is one cause of chapped lips. The best way to avoid chapping is to use an organic lip balm. Make sure you keep a balm in your purse or pocket. After all, you can never be sure when you’ll need one. Anyone who has suffered from chapped lips can tell you that lip balm is something one should never be without!
